A NIGHT WITHOUT CHILDREN!!

We had our annual christmas party this last saturday night. It started with warm homemade soups, baked potatoes and delicious salads. Next we had a white elephant exhange in which suprisingly the one present stolen the most was a high school musical blanket. (obviousley we had some very determined mothers with daughters in mind) After we had voted on who had worn the worst ( or should i say best) christmas sweater, we proceeded in a hysterical, yet revealing hour of the Newlywed Game. Finally we topped off the night with some christmas traditions. By the time the night ended it was late and we were all exhausted. As everyone left we debated to forego the mess that awaited until tomorrow morning, but then we stopped and realized that wait, our children are spending the night at grandma's tonight and we can sleep in!!!!!! oh the joy! once the mess was cleaned up, we headed off to bed knowing that we wouldn't be awakend by our teething son at 3 am or by our other children at 6am. Thank you grandma and grandpa for a wonderful night with friends and a whole night of unenteruppted sleep!

I decided to make name tags for everyone and that if they were edible they would be even better! i thought they turned out cute and went well with the table settings!
Just some of our awesome friends, old and new!

AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT

For I and mark's christmas present this year we decided to furnish our formal living room. to finish the room i still have to get a few things but for now this will work! one of my good friends is going to paint me a picture to go in the room and i am soo exited to see when everything comes together. I know people think we are crazy for getting this color but for one it is a micro fabric so it is washable ( otherwise we wouldn't have bought it ) and two our children have learned that there is some things in our house they do not play on or around. the only problem i have is that i will have to be a natzi with other people children- so we shall see.
I was very excited to start decorating for christmas this year because my christmas colors are red and silver which match this room perfectly. while growing up our family had many little traditions we did every christmas and this was one of them i loved as a child. my mom would make up a special calender for us for the month of december and we would decorate it with her. she would put several activities that we would do during the month like bake cookies together or what day we would see santa or when we go and see christmas lights together as a family. we were always so excited to count down the days to these activites. so i have carried on the tradition with my children and it is always exciting to me to see my kids enjoy the same things i did as a child.

First Day Of Snow!

ahh yes the snow has fallen, winter is fast approaching! the beauty of fresh fallen snow on the aspen trees, warm cups of hot chocolate, crisp mountain air tinkling your face, smell of fireplaces burning into the night, snowboarding/ skiing, snow ball fights, sledding, snow angels, christmas shopping, christmas music, decorations, cinnamon pine cones, and a white christmas. i love the snow and the feeling it brings of change but only until christmas, then i just want it all to go away! because then it becomes: icy roads, coldness, warming up the car, traffic accidents, coldness, some gloomy days with no sun, coldness, stomach flu's, kids trapped inside all day, coldness, muddy snow on everything, and the coldness that seeps through your body, making you wish for warmer days! ahh yes, the snow has fallen and here we go once again!

the sun was just a little too bright!
first taste of snow! its hard to even see her with all the layer of clothes, but she didn't care she loved it! first thing jaron wanted to do was make snowballs! not much snow but we managed

WEDDING RING NIGHTMARES

I am sad today. Sometimes I leave my wedding ring next to the kitchen sink and I know that it's not the best place to leave it ( and now I have learned my lesson). I am assuming that this morning when I saw Brinley playing in the sink ( she was washing her hands but then she likes to play afterward) that she grabbed my ring and thus it ended in the garbage disposal. As I went to turn on the disposal 20 minutes later I heard the dreaded grinding sound and of course at the time had know idea my ring was even missing and figured it was something else stuck down there. As I fished around for the item that was making that grinding sound I soon plucked out a familar yet mangeled ring and instantley came a flood of tears. Luckily for me I have a wonderful husband who spent over an hour (and making him an hour late for work) pulling apart the disposal and searched for it's missing diamonds. I am also very lucky that I use to work for an insurance company and that I have insured all of my valuable assets. If I had not worked in the industry of insurance I know that I would have never thought to insure or to take the time to insure my wedding ring. I am still sad. I really don't know if the ring can be fixed, it might just have to be replaced. I don't want a replacement I just want the same ring I received almost 10 years ago.
